The program "Basic Understanding of Developmental Disorders" to improve prejudice against developmental disorders has been released. There are Japanese, English and Chinese versions. (Stigma improvement program)

Since 2018, high school guidance has been institutionalized. We are researching various programs that are tackled by instruction by tsukyu. (High school commuter program)

OUR MISSION

家族の時間

The environment surrounding children is changing day by day.

In recent years, "developmental disorders" have attracted social attention, but until just a few decades ago, the concept did not exist.

It is only recently that "child poverty" has come to be recognized as a social problem rather than an individual problem.

With regard to "child abuse", the number of cases where the problem has become apparent has increased as social concern has increased.

There are many things that become clear when words are born and concepts are defined.

As researchers at universities and graduate schools, we believe that we should accumulate new knowledge through our own research and respond to the demands of society.

Our mission is to support the growth of children.

We are working on various research that can contribute to that.

Let's support the growth of "children"!

Have you ever heard the term "developmental disability"? Various difficulties such as LD with learning difficulties, ADHD with control difficulties such as inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, and autism spectrum disorders with social difficulties (Asperger's syndrome is also in this group). There are a surprisingly large number of children and adults with salience.

People with developmental disabilities are never in another world, they are connected to us.

Therefore, although my research focuses on developmental disorders, I am not only interested in disabilities, but also in everything related to the upbringing of "children."

Since we place emphasis on clinical research and activities that actually involve children, we sometimes actually go to kindergartens, nursery schools, and elementary schools.

Also, due to the nature of this kind of research, the students in my lab, including myself, are tolerant of our differences and failures.

If you are interested in research that supports the development of children, why not participate in the research?

Science of developmental disorders

Among the difficulties presented by people with developmental disorders such as LD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, etc.), there are problems with brain function.

Pursuing "why people with developmental disorders can't do it" also means clarifying "why people without developmental disorders can do it."

From the LD research, the brain mechanisms related to reading and writing, from the ADHD research, the brain functions related to "attention" and "memory", and from the autism spectrum research, the "social brain" is a complex complex. Advanced brain functions are being elucidated.

Based on such scientific evidence, I am researching what is important to support the development of children.

For example, it is a mistake to instruct children on the autism spectrum to "look into the eyes of the person who is talking" or "do not do things that people dislike".

At the root of the social communication difficulties seen in people with autism spectrum disorders are the narrow range of attention, the weakness of switching, the weakness of overall integration, and the difficulty of sharing attention with others. There are various brain function problems that

We need to understand the reasons why children are having difficulty, and then consider educational methods.

Guidance that matches the child's characteristics means adjusting the environment and information so that it is easier for the child to understand. and so on.

In order to provide effective development support, it is necessary to understand the characteristics.
